The Verdict

This is the verdict that we have come to about the Mike Peters group. Mike if you do not agree with these statements please contact us with your opposition in a concise manner point by point in relation to our numbered assertions about your teaching and church group. Mike & friends have not answered many important questions regarding the appearance of evil of relationships with married and single women, apostleship of Mike Peters, the slander of other's character (starting with Denny and ending with Tim S), control issues, break up of the family, Families against cults, and the excommunication process. It is obvious to us and other readers that there must be something to hide. Mike and friends do not communicate on Fact net unless there is someone to slander, the latest victim is Tim S. After a while they "leave" the discussion board, but seem to monitor every post. It seems right to come to the conclusion that when people leave the group there are negative things stated about them no matter how they leave. Dignity is not protected concerning certain sins, as Mike P. has suggested that some on this board are homosexuals. There are very few cases where confessed sins [the past] should be used against a person in a public situation like Fact net, especially if the person has repented.

1.) Mike it is apparent that the tactics you use to get some of these people off your case is to bring up past sins. I used to do that too, but anyone who is married knows that if you do that to your spouse whenever they have something against you it will lead to serious problems in the relationship. Can you consider what is offered here and post your thoughts addressing the specific questions that have been asked?

1 Timothy 5:17-21 17The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. 18For the Scripture says, "Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain,"[b] and "The worker deserves his wages." 19Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses. 20 Those who sin are to be rebuked publicly, so that the others may take warning. 21 I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism.

This is very clear that we are not supposed to entertain accusations unless 2 or 3 people agree on them. There are more than 2 or 3 people that we personally know that agree on these things. We are not even including all the testimonies on Factnet and that we have personally received.

2.) Mike, I took a shot at you concerning the proxy internet block the church has out there, I called it KGB proxy. I am sorry, I don't think that was fair to you. Forgive me for saying that. I am concerned though about the controlling nature of your group. Would members be permitted to visit www.indianapoliscult.com ? Do people have a right to question your teachings without being perceived as divisive? Would you go to the website and consider what is there? Would you have a leadership meeting around the things that have be offered here, isn't it a good possibility that there is change that needs to happen in Indianapolis (See Titus 3 3.) Mike, why is it that people are encouraged not to do things alone (i.e. visit family and hobbies)? Isn't that based on fear? Can you see how this seems like a cultish rule?

Romans 8:13-17 13 For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, 14 because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

1 John 4:13-21 13 We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. 17 In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 19 We love because he first loved us. 20 If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. 21 And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.

I am not seeing where living in fear is beneficial. I know we need to be careful but there are extremes here that are based on fear. I remember going to the grocery store and being so fearful that something “bad” would happen. But from what Jesus says we should not fear but trust in His love.

4.) Mike, are you an (scripture writing) apostle of Jesus Christ? Did you have a dream that Jesus crowned you? Do you know that some people think you are Jesus Christ (or at least his only spokesman) ? Are you ok with being idolized by men?

2 Corinthians 12:12 12 The things that mark an apostle—signs, wonders and miracles—were done among you with great perseverance.

Galatians 1:1 1 Paul, an apostle—sent not from men nor by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead—

5.) The rule of averages concerning the mistreatment of the family and even the encouraged marital dysfunction says that your group is probably guilty of doing this. I can prove this based on scientific observation. What are the odds that people who left Indy or Columbus find factnet through a search engine in the relatively same time period (5 months) and post similar stories about the break up of the family unit in the church? That means there is a very high probability that this is a common theme that needs to be addressed. By the way, this is not persecution. Jesus' persecutors could not even agree and they contradicted each other during the trail.

1 Peter 3 1-2 1 Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, 2 when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.

Why is this not being followed? Don’t you see the promise that God has made to these wives? There is no need to punish these husbands but to love them out of their sin (if they are in it).

6.) The excommunication process seems to be out of control in your group. I have never heard of someone getting kick out because of un-love. Can you point out some scriptural documentation on this? Also, why does someone have to move out of the neighborhood? This is another red flag to me, that the Lord Jesus Christ is not the center of the church's motives. Why are people asked to leave permanently without a way back? The church is saved by the blood of Jesus Christ, not by works. If someone has "unlove", can you not help him/her?

1 Corinthians 5:9-11 9 I have written you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— 10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 11 But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.

2 Corinthians 2:5-11 5 If anyone has caused grief, he has not so much grieved me as he has grieved all of you, to some extent—not to put it too severely. 6 The punishment inflicted on him by the majority is sufficient for him. 7 Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. 8 I urge you, therefore, to reaffirm your love for him. 9 The reason I wrote you was to see if you would stand the test and be obedient in everything. 10 If you forgive anyone, I also forgive him. And what I have forgiven—if there was anything to forgive—I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, 11 in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.

So here is the verdict on this sinful man in 1 Corinthians. Yes he was in sin, (although no one I know is in these particular sins) but they forgave him and brought him back. He didn’t have leave permanently, interesting huh?

7.) Why does Indianapolis Families Against Cults Organization consider your group to be a cult since the 1990s? Can you explain your experiences with Augusta from Families Against Cults? Why is it that to this day (08/16/2006) she tells me that she speaks to some one everyday about your group? (Call them yourself) FamiliesAgainstCults

1 Timothy 3:1-13 1 Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer,  he desires a noble task. 2Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. 5 (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?) 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. 7 He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap. 8 Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. 9 They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. 10 They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons. 11 In the same way, their wives] are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything. 12 A deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his household well. 13 Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.

8.) Mike it seems that you and others (ChrisO and OnetimePoster) post on to factnet to discredit people who have left. It is apparent that you are watching posts to see who you can discredit. Is this Godly behavior? You say that you know things about my home life, what are those things? I'd like to make changes if I am sinning against the Lord.

Titus Chapter 3:1-11 1 Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, 2 to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men.  3 At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. 8 This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone. 9 But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. 10 Warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him. 11 You may be sure that such a man is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.

9.) There is much talk of being "divisive" in this group. Titus 3:10 talks about this, the word divisive doesn't occur in the bible like you teach. This word in Titus 3:10 is heretic, which is false teacher. I have testimonies of people who when they question your teaching they are called divisive using this scripture to defend your view point. After studying the word of God more thoroughly it appears that this scripture should be used in your case. We are defending the doctrine of Grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. You seem to teach a combination of legalism, sensationalism, and elitism with very little emphasis on biblical context and the Gospel of Jesus Christ .

If Mike Peters can prove that these assertions are wrong through reasonable conversation stating the facts point by point corresponding to our numbered list, then we will certainly recant! If Mike Peters repents of these things and publicly confesses these problems, we will certainly recognize this and drop these charges. We forgive Mike Peters and his friends. We will not allow false teaching to continue unchallenged or the hurting souls of the Lamb to endure with out a voice.
